Died at sea on the sinking of S.S. Tanjong Penang on the Banka Straits 17 February 1942 by the Japanese in the Banka Straits off the east coast of Sumatra.

Commemorated in a Book of Remembrance in St George’s Chapel in Westminster Abbey, London
