James Stanton. Boatswain, Royal Navy on HMS Alexandra
Born 07 January 1849 in Cheshire to Murtagh and Seragh Staunton
1861 with his parents and siblings at 03 Rockyard. Bridge Street, Cheshire
Died 31 December 1888 in Bighi Naval Hospital Kalkara, Malta
1871 Able Seaman in the Royal Navy on HMS Indus, Plymouth.
Husband of Ann Jane, nee Arnall who he married in the R/D. of East Stinehouse, Devon, March Qtr, 1876
1881 Leading Seaman on ship, Agincourt at Channel Squadron, Gibraltar. His was and sons Albert aged 2years and Alfred aged 1 year at 40 Union Place, East Stonehouse, Devon.
02 August 1886 he was appointed Boatswain on HMS Alexandra. Died 31 December 1888.
Died in Bighi Naval Hospital, Kalkara, Malta on the 31 December 1888 of a heart disease.

Western Morning News - Wednesday 16 January 1889
Mr James Stanton, Boatswain of the Alexandra died in the Naval Hospital on the 31st December (1888) and was buried the next day with full naval honours in the Bighi Cemetery, a large number of his brother warrant officers from the ships in port attending.
