James Henry SMYTH. Rifleman 18/690 13th Royal Irish Rifles. Born 1897 to John and Mary Smyth of Ringneill, Killinchy, County Down. 1902 and 1911 residing with his parents and siblings at 1 Ballygilbert, Killough, County Down (this census has his name recorded as James Henry). Killed in action in France 9 August 1916 aged 19 years, Husband of Sarah of Scrabo, Newtownards, County Down, Ireland. Soldiers Effects, His widow was granted a war gratuity 23 February 1917, revised 27 September 1919.
At rest in La Plus Douve, Ration Farm, Hainaut, Belgium.
Commemorated on his parents' memorial at Killinchy Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Churchyard, County Down, Northern Ireland. Headstone states his name just as James
