James Frederick (Jim) VICKERS

James Frederick (Jim) VICKERS Second Radio Officer, Merchant Navy on S.S. Pikepool (West Hartlepool) lost at sea by enemy action on the 22nd November 1940 aged 47. The ship his a mine and sank 23 mile South East of the Smalls Light, Pembroke. The ship was carrying ballast from Glasgow to Barry, South Wales. ;Safe home in port. He was the son of Frederick and Eliza of Townend Puniess Street, Knutsford and he was the husband of Clara Elizabeth of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In 1911 he was an apprentice electrician. He is commemorated on a family memorial in Knutsford Cemetery, Cheshire and also on the Tower Hill Memorial, London.
