James Bertram Faulkner (Bertie) Cartland, Major 1st Worcestershire Regiment who fell in action 27th May 1918 aged 42 at Berry-au-Bac. Husband of Mary Hamilton (Polly) nee Scobell of Poolbrook, Worcestershire late of Amerie Court, Pershore.

Commemorated on the Soissons Memorial, France.

Commemorated on a family war memorial at Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucestershire.

His younger son -
James Anthony Hamilton Cartland, Captain 58095, 2nd The Lincolnshire Regiment killed in action near Ypres, 29th May 1940 aged 27.
Buried in Zuidschote Churchyard, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, his brother Captain John died the following day .
His eldest son -
John Ronald Hamilton Cartland, M.P., Major 70394, 53rd Worcestershire Yeomanry, Anti Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery who was killed near Cassell 30 May 1940 aged 33. He was Member of Parliament for Kings Norton Division of Birmingham, 1935-1940.
Buried at Hotton War cemetery, Luxembourge, Belgium

His daughter was Barbara Cartland, authoress.
