JACKSON, Ernest William

JACKSON, Ernest William, Gunner 239196, Motor Transport, 46th Divison, Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery died 22nd February 1919. He was the son of William and Frances Mary who in 1911 was living with his parents and siblings at 7, Paul Row, Greengate, Malton, Yorkshire, occupation Wheel Turner. He is at rest in New Malton Cemetery, Yorkshire . Some notes from what is left of his Army record,
He enlisted 3rd August 1915 aged 21. His home was at 7, St Pauls Terrace, Greengate, Malton occupation Horseman. He died prior to discharge from the army. He suffered from heart trouble. He served in Salonica 10th November 1916 - 20th July 1917. then back in England. France 4th April 1918 - 6th February 1919. He had Malaria when he was in Salonica. he was in the 4th Canadian Hospital Salonica and then transferred to St Andrews Hospital, Malta. He was also in hospital in Brompton, Cumberland from the 20th July 1917 to 27th August 1917 suffering from French Fever. His heart trouble started about May 1917. Whilst at the front he was a Horse Transport Driver in the Royal Field Artillery.
