Not sure what munition is shown - possibly a 40mm pop up flare. Those would slide right into the barrel. Regular M79 ammo was much shorter than shown.

I liked the OOB rounds - about 40 round pellets like you see in regular shotgun ammo.

There were flechette rounds, but they weren't popular at all. The little "arrows" just didn't do enough damage. SW
