E003 Alec Ian LINDSAY. Flight-Lieutenant, Pilot, 83982, 185 Squadron Royal Air Force (VR), Spitfire Pilot stationed at RAF Hal Far, Malta. Born 14 August 1918 to Alec Gerald Lindsay and Norah Lindsay nee Ball of Nairobi, Kenya. Enlisted into the RAF in 1939. Married Marjorie Syrett 29 June 1940 at St Mary and St Peter’s Church, Montrose, Scotland Died 23 October 1942. Wills and Admin, Ancestry. He resided at 37 Pemberley Avenue, Bedford died on date stated. His effect went to his widow Marjorie Elsie Lindsay.

It is understood that this Battle of Britain fighter pilot could have been a victim of friendly fire.
The aircraft of F/O Lindsay crashed on the outskirts of Dingli between 06.40 -07-30 hour. There were no claims made by the Luftwaffe pilots during the raid, but the AA Gunners claimed two aircraft shot down. One was a Bf109 flown by Uffz Herbert Wagner, which crashed into a field at Zebbieh at approximately 07.00 hours, the other aircraft could have been that of Flt/Lt. Lindsay which was seen to dive into the ground from minus 20,000 feet minus its tall tail unit.
E003 Robert Bruce PARK. Flying-Officer, 404981, Royal Australian Air Force. Stationed attached to 185 Squadron at RAF Hal Far, Malta. Born 19 March 1921 at Queensland. Previous service – Joined 7 March 1939 as Private 420469 with 61st Bn. Australia Imperial Force. Appointed Lance Corporal 10 February 1940. He was then transferred as instructor to 3rd Infantry Training Bn, for 6 months. He was discharged 4 July 1940 to join the RAAF. He enlisted 5 January 1941 aged 19 years as Air Man. Discharged 22 September 1941 as Air Man. Appointed to Pilot Officer 23 September 1941. 24 July 1941 he was awarded a Flying Badge. 16 October 1941 embarked from Australia for overseas service. Drowned 19th November 1942 aged 21 years 50 to 60 miles south of Malta, as recorded in his RAAF records. P/O Park 185 Squadron suffered engine trouble near the convoy and had to bale out. A destroyer sped to his rescue but he was found to be already dead. Son of Joseph Keith and Joanna Millar Park, of Modewarre, Victoria, Australia.
E003 James Douglas STEVENSON, Flying Officer, Pilot, J/15340, Royal Canadian Air Force, 126 Squadron, RAF, stationed at RAF Luqa. Died 18th October 1942 aged 29 years. Son of Sidney S. and Alice H. Stevenson, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

London Gazette dated 18 March 1941. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Flying Officer John WADDINGHAM (40867) No. 141 Squadron. At rest in Capuccini (Kalkara) Naval Cemetery, Malta Plot E Grave 03.
