Son of Benjamin Freakes and of Blanche Eliza Freakes (nee Dainton), of Durban, Natal, South Africa. M.A. Rhodes Scholar.

Died 10 March 1942 aged 28yrs. He died when his Hudson V8995 crashed on approach to Honeybourne airfield. Buried at Waterside Cemetery, Evesham, Worcestershire, England
