HOLLINSHEAD Clarence George

Private 201337 Clarence George HOLLINSHEAD 5th North Staffordshire Regiment died 26th June 1918 aged 22. He was the son of George Henry and Elizabeth of Biddulph. He is at rest in St Lawrence Churchyard, Biddulph, Staffordshire. Some notes from what remains of his army record. He joined up on the 17th April 1915 and was posted as Private 477 5th Reserve North Staffords later to allotted a new army number 201337. He gave his home address as 5, Fan Row, Brindley Ford, near to Biddulph, Staffordshire. He served in France from the 25th February 1917 to 20th March 1918. then to England. On the 10th May 1918 he was admitted to 2nd Western General Hospital, Stepping Hill. Hazel Grove, Stockport and he died at 10 pm on the 26th June 1918 of acute T.B. He cause of death was recorded as 1. Pulmonary Tuberculosis contracted on active service. 2. Exhaustion. He was buried in a private grave at Biddulph churchyard. His belongings were sent to his married sister, Mrs Florence Annie Young, Old Parsonage Cottage, Rectory Road, Basildon, Essex on the 11th March 1920 for disposal his brother, Silas aged 10 who was also at the same address. (no record could be found for a Silas).
