German leader Adolf Hitler meeting Spain's dictator General Francisco Franco on the Spanish border at Hendaye October 23,1940 to talk about Spain helping out in case of war.
As per some reports, it is rumored that Hitler said something along the lines "I would rather had a tooth pulled out, than meeting with Franco again".
Franco had already made his mind about the disastrous consequences for Spain in case of a posible intervention after contacts with Canaris, Ciano and Mussolini. It is more or less accepted that Franco made imposible to meet conditions for Hitler in exchange for a Spanish intervention, in order to keep Spain out of the war. That made the whole meeting an absolute waste of time for Hitler.
