- HERBERT EDWARD COOK. MARINE PORT8230 ROYAL MARINE LIGHT INFANTRY PORSTMOUTH DIVISION ON HMS EGMONT BORN 30 JULY 1876 AT MILE END LONDON TO WILLIAM COOK AND ELIZABETH HANNAH NEE SHARP. ENLISTED 26 SEP 1895. DIED 20 JUL 1905 AGED 29 OF SUICIDE BY GUNSHOT TO THE HEAD AT RICOSOLI RIFLE RANGE MALTA. IN 1901 HE WAS ON HMS BOSCOWEN 2, BERTHED AT PORTLAND, DORSET. HIS FATHER WAS INFORMED OF HIS DEATH 24.7.05. AT REST IN PLOT A GRAVE 105 KALKARA NAVAL CEMETERY, MALTA.
