- Private 41667, Herbert Alfred ARMES, 6th Bedfordshire Regiment killed in action 8th April 1918 aged 19. He was born at Hemingford Grey. In 1911 lived with his widowed mother Rosetta, a Publican, and his siblings at The New Crown, Arms Corner, 2, Oxford Road, St Ives, Huntingdonshire. His late father was called Herbert. He is commemorated on a poppy cross along with Richard J Lister at the foot of a tree dedicated to Alan Matthew SMYTH Ex UDR at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire and he is at rest at Gommecourt British Cemetery, No2, Hebuterne, France.
