Henry Victor HUBBARD. DCM. Lance Corporal 11866, 9th Cheshire Regiment died on the field of honour 2nd July 1916 aged 30 years. Son of Frank and Sarah Hubbard of South Bank Cottages, Great Budworth, Cheshire. His father was granted a war gratuity 24 April 1917 revised 8 October 1919
His DCM Citation reads. 9/11866 L/Cpl H.V.HUBBARD. For conspicuous gallantry during operations. He mounted a machine gun under heavy fire and with utter disregard of danger kept continuous fire of the enemy's machine guns, thus covering the advance of some men across a zone which they were sweeping with fire.
Commemorated on a family memorial in St Mary and All Saints Churchyard, Cheshire also on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
