General Sir Henry Errington Longden. K.C.B. C.S.I.
Born 14 January 1819. Died 29 January 1890.

Served in 1st. X (10th) Foot from 16 September 1836 to 14 June 1864.

Present at Battle of Sobraon – Sutlej Campaign 1845,6 – Siege of Mooltan.

Actions of Soorjkoond, Fort Chenioti. Battle of Goojerat – Punjaub

Campaign 1848-9. – Siege and capture of Lucknow.

Actions of Fort Atrowleea – Chanda, Umeerpore, Sultanpore and of Fort Douraha – Azimghui, Tonse and Jugdespore.

COMMANDED THE BATTALION from JUNE 21 1858 to JUNE 14 1864.
This memorial is erected by the Officers of his old battalion as a token of esteem.

1881 became The Lincolnshire Regiment

1960 amalgamated with The Northamptonshire Regiment, to form 2nd East Anglian Regiment (Duchess of Gloucester's Own Royal Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire)
1964 united with 1st East Anglian Regiment (Royal Norfolk and Suffolk), 3rd East Anglian Regiment (16th/44th Foot), and The Royal Leicestershire Regiment, to form The Royal Anglian Regiment
