A.03.01 Henry HATCHER. Sergeant 8156 Royal Garrison Artillery. Born 1877 at Staplehurst, Kent to Henry and Susannah Hatcher, nee Barnes. 1881 and 1891 residing with his parents and siblings at Turnpike North, Maidstone Road Cuckholds Corner, Staplehurst. Occupation 1891 agricultural labourer. Enlisted 29 January 1895, civilian occupation, groom. Died in Malta 9 April 1909. His father was granted a gratuity 26 May 1909.
A.03.01 James George THOMPSON. Rifleman 2229, 3rd King’s Royal Rifle Corps. Born 1888 at Billericay, Essex to John and Alice Louisa Thompson, nee Ramsey. In 1891 he was residing with his parents at Sun Street, Billericay, Essex. 1901 residing with his parents and siblings at High Street, Billericay. Enlisted 12 August 1907 at Winchester aged 18 years and 3 months civilian occupation, carpenter. 9 November 1907 he was posted with the 1st battalion to Palace Barracks, Holywood, County Down. From there on the 19 February 1908 posted with his regiment to Malta to join the 4th Battalion. Died at 2.30 am on double pneumonia 11th December 1908. His father was granted a gratuity 26 January 1909.
His brother Harold joined the army 24 February 1916 aged 18 years as Private 30027, 1/5th Norfolk Regiment. Served in Egypt 19 June 1917 to 6 March 1919 and discharged from home base 16 October 1919.
A.03.01 Alfred WHITE. Rifleman 8397 Somersetshire Light Infantry. Born 1889 at Islington, London enlisted 8 October 1907, civilian occupation, van guard. Died in Malta 27th June 1909. His father Harry was granted a gratuity 29 July 1909.
