Hannah BARRETT. Wife of Quartermaster Richard BARRETT, 18th Royal Irish Regiment who died at Malta 6th September 1872 aged 38.

Also Rose, daughter of above died at Malta 8th March 1874 aged 5 years. At rest together in Ta Braxia Cemetery, Malta.

Small extract from the Afghan Campaigns of 1878-1880 shows the following)
Quartermaster Richard Barrett died at Landi Kotal, Northern Afghanistan in on the 17 October 1880 of cholera. In 1879 he was stationed at Firozpur. 1880 the 18th Royal Irish he marched to Peshawar on the 4th January 1880 He had served twenty six years with the colours. (Wills and Admin, Ancestry) The will of Richard Barrett late Quartermaster in Her Majesty's 18th Regiment of Foot, (Royal Irish) died 17th October 1880 at Alimusjid in Afghanistan was proved at the Principal Registers by George Everard of 1 Granville Road, Lewisham, Kent, Captain in Her Majesty's Army, one of the Executors.
