Hammond, Ralph Beardmore

Ralph Beardmore Hammond was Private 13848, North Staffordshire Regiment. Born 29th June 1894 and died in Cheddleton Staffordshire 17th September 1917

The following notes is from his Army Record which was not damaged at all by enemy action over London in the 2nd World War.

He attested at Cheadle on the 9th September 1914 and was transferred to the reserve that day, he rejoined on the 21st September 1914 at Lichfield and was discharged on the 2nd October 1914 under paragraph 392 (III) King's Regulation. Not likley to become an effeciant soldier. He was addmitted to St Edwards Hospital, Cheddleton, Staffordshire the same day. ( of unsound mine) the army called it something different.
Prior to enlistment he was a bank clerk and lived with his parents William and Sarah Emily nee Lanchbery of Victoria Cottage, Kingsley Moor and he belonged to the Wesleyan Methodist Church in the village
