Ground loop

Finnish Air Force, WWII. Soft snow resulted in severe ground loops being suffered by the Brewster B-239s, yet the use of skis was forbidden.

Why was the use of skis forbidden mate ?

I read it from the book about Eino Luukkanen (3rd ranking fighter ace in FAF during WWII), he was a squadron leader and made several requests of those skis on Brewsters (they were tested earlier and worked fine) but was allways denied of using them, and he never new why!

Some of the Finnish Air Force Commanders have just been too stubborn?
But i found also this: http://www.warbirdforum.com/faf3.htm and it's totally in contradiction of what Eino Luukkanen told in that book!? Some FAF Commanders were also in board of directors in State Aircraft Factory which made these tests, don't know if this has anything to do with the matter (too costly experiment?).

Hmmm, it seems to be about the performance of the aircraft. The skis reduced speed and performance in the air.
I should have thought of that ?

But Eino Luukkanen remembered skis to work well with Brewster? Well, he was a pilot and perhaps didn't knew every technical detail.
