When you upload your media you are presented with three boxes to insert your text.

The first box is a plain text box for a brief description (this wont parse any links like your Youtube one).

The second (larger) box is a rich text box and will do what you intended as shown here.

The second box allows you up to 60,000 characters however the first (plain text box) will only allow 500 characters.

there is also a field where you can insert any copyright or usage conditions
