Son of Robert Nigel Timbrell, Engr. Lieut. Cmdr., RN (Retired), and Ellen Letitia Timbrell, of The Copelands, Staunton, Gloucester. Student at Portsmouth Technical School.

Commemorated at Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.

Commemorated on a family headstone at

Uley St Giles Churchyard, Gloucestershire.
