George LYNE

Extended Description
George LYNE, Bandsman, 2nd Connaught Rangers, died 4th January 1890 at Pembroke Camp, Malta aged 15. Erected by the Band Master, Non Commissioned Officers and Men of the band as a token of their sincere respect and esteem.

At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta. Plot 02 Row 16 Grave 09

Poor young lad, died so far from home and family. But a lot of these young boy soldiers of the 19th Century had no family other than their regiment:(
 
Its a good point @BravoZulu , I remember a lad in the British army who actually did have a family but he was treated so badly by them he didnt want to be anywhere near them, he had a strong belief that his Regiment was his family too. Im glad he found a place he was happy.
