Squadron Leader George Herman BENNIONS, D.F.C., Royal Air Force, (Retired) died 30th January 2004 aged 90. His full name was George Herman Bennions ( Nickname Ben) Born in Burslem, Stoke on Trent 15th March 1913 and attended Longton High School. He joined the RAF at Halton in January 1929 as an Aircraft Apprentice. He passed out as an LAC Engine Fitter in December 1931. Served in the RAF from 1929-1946. Squadron Leader with 41 Squadron RAF Fought in WW2 and in the Battle of Britain as a Spitfire Pilot.

Pilot Officer Bennions has led his section with great distinction. He has destroyed seven enemy aircraft and possibly several others. His determination and coolness have had a splendid influence on his squadron as a whole.
He is at rest with his wife Avis and son Tony in Catterick Cemetery, Yorkshire
