Private 6384 George Francis SAWYER. 1st Wiltshire Regiment.
Born 1884 to William Flower and Rebecca Sawyer, nee New. 1891 with his parents and siblings at Calne Court, Lydiard Tregooze, Wiltshire. 1901 with his parents and siblings at Hook Street, Lydiard Tregoze, Wiltshire. 1911 with his parents and siblings at Hay Lane Cottages, Swindon Wiltshire, occupation Boilersmith Labourer at the Great Western Railway at Swindon Railway works
He married Eveline Ismay Stout 11 April 1914 at Lydiard Tregooze, Wiltshire. He was aged 28, labourer from Wroughton, Wilts. Seven months later he was killed in action 13 October 1914 age 30 years. His widow was granted a war gratuity 30 January 1915 revised 7 May 1919
Commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial
