Private 341792, George COLLEDGE, 2/6th Sherwood Foresters
Born 1892 to George and Emma Colledge nee Skinner. 1901-1911 at Stoppards Row Market Street, Clay Cross with his parents and siblings. 1911 occupation, apprentice butcher. On enlistment he gave that address as his residence with his parents

He enlisted 10 December 1915 into the Sherwood Foresters as Private 34641 later changed to 247192. (CWGC have is number as above) aged 23, occupation butcher residing at Stoppards Row with his parents. On enlistment his was posted to the army reserve to await his mobilization which was 5 February 1916 posted the Regimental Depot 8 February 1916. He embarked for France 25 February 1917 invalided back to England 23 September 1917 and admitted into Military Hospital Grove Road Richmond, Surrey. It appears he was on a Medical Board 27 October 1917 disability, Pulmonary Tuberculosis. Discharged 12 November 1917 as being no longer physically fit for war service to his home at Clay Cross. Died 14th September 1919 aged 27 possible from his disability France. He served 1year and 281 days.

At rest in Clay Cross Cemetery, Derbyshire.
