Frederick Shaw CLAY. Lance Corporal 16709, 2nd Coldstream Guards. Son of John and Alice Ida Clay nee Shaw of Kimberley. 1901 he was residing with his parents and siblings in the High Street, Kimberley. 1911 residing aged 13 years at the home of Ernest and Mary Clay of Brickfield House, Kimberley, occupation, shop assistant. Killed in action 24 September 1917. His sister Mary Ann was granted a war gratuity 22 January 1918 revised 11 October 1919.

At rest in Bleuet Farm Cemetery, Belgium.
