Frederick John HOWLAND, Stoker Petty Officer, 234803 Royal Navy on HMS Valerian .Born 21st July 1888 at Ramsgate Kent to Frederick and Mary Ann of (1911) 2 Chalk Hole Cottages, Chalk Hole near Margate Kent occupation stoker HM Navy. Enlisted 18th September 1905 on HMS Boscawen III occupation prior to enlistment waggoners mate. Died 31st October 1918 aged 30 years in Royal Naval Hospital Malta from influenza and broncho pneumonia. His widow Annie of 35 Milton Road, Margate Kent was informed of his death 1st November 1918.
