Some notes from what remains of his army records

He joined up on 5 February 1915 at Middlewich aged 19 years and posted to Labour Corps as Private 62735. Occupation prior to joining up was chauffeur to Mr Haddon of Middlewich. He fought at the Dardanelles, Turkey from 5th July 1915 to 15 November 1915. He went sick at the Dardanelle with a hernia of the stomach caused by active service and was invalided to Chester Military Hospital. On the 26 February 1919 he was transferred to Class Z and left the army to his wife at Bostock Green, Northwich. During his time in the army he served in the Labour Corps, transferred to as private 78314, 18th Welsh Regiment and finally to 560 Home Service Employment Coy, Labour Corps.

Commemorated on a family headstone at

Middlewich Cemetery, Cheshire.
