Extended Description
WILLETT Frank Leslie. Private, 61084, 1st Garrison Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 79572 King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Died 4th November 1918, aged 20 in Military Hospital,Valletta, Malta years. He was the son of Abraham and Elizabeth Willett, of 35 Yorke Street, Hucknall Nottingham.

CARTER Alfred John. Corporal, 7623, 28th Fortress Coy, Royal Engineers, Malta Garrison. Died of influenza and bronchopneumonia in Military Hospital, St Andrews, in Malta on the 6th November 1918. He was born at Newport and enlisted at Parkhurst both of Isle of Wight. and lived at Southsea, Hampshire. His widow Kate Ellen, nee Betts was granted a war gratuity on the 27th May 1919.

He joined up aged 18 years and 2 months on the 29th January 1901. He lived with his parents on the Isle of Wight, occupation, skilled engine fitter. He had previously served with the 5th Volunteer Battalion, Hampshire Regiment His record does not show if he was posted over seas during his period in the army prior to 4th August 1914. His next of kin was his father, William Carl of 2 Highland Cottages, Hunneyhill, Newport, Isle of Wight. His mother was called Mary Ann. He extended his service on the 31st March 1904 to complete 8 years with the colours, then on the 3rd July extended his service to 12 years. On the 2nd February 1912 he re-engaged with the Royal Engineers to complete 21 years service with the colours. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on the 28th May 1913 and Corporal on the 18th April 1915. He was posted to 28th Fortress Company, Royal Engineers, Malta, date not known.

Alfred John CARTER, aged 33 years, bachelor, Corporal, Royal Engineers, the son of William Carter deceased, married 7th November 1916 to, Kate Ellen BETTS, aged 30 years, spinster, the daughter of John Betts deceased.
They had one child Harry Alfred Carter born 10th July 1918 at Malta. In 1919 his widow and son were living at 56 Bramshot Road, Southsea, Hampshire. Harry Alfred may have been Sergeant Major 163822 with the Royal Regiment of Artillery. 4th December 1940.

MUNDAY William. Private, 15054, 2nd King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. He was taken ill in Salonika and died of sickness in Malta, 7th November 1918, aged 23 years. He was the son of William and Elizabeth Munday, of 33 Llewllyn Street, Trecynon, Aberdare.
