VICKERS Frank Henry. Driver (Sapper), 4/222/B, No.1 Field Coy, New Zealand Engineers, died of his wounds, 31st May 1915, aged 26 and not 19 years as stated by the CWGC. The age displayed by the CWGC came from records that were supplied to them from a military source when the stone was being engraved in 1915. Born 14th November 1889 to Henry and Caroline Vickers, of Brighton, England. Wills and Admin. Ancestry. He lived at 4 Gwydyr Mansions, Hove Sussex. Driver 1st Field Company Engineers, New Zealand Expeditionary Force died on date stated but not location. (It is shown as the Dardanelles and not Malta) His effects went to Archibald Vickers, manufacturer. At rest in Plot IV. Row 1A. He joined up on the 31st May 1915 he gave his date of birth as the 14 November 1889, (registered in Steying, Sussex) occupation, a land agent. He previously served with the Sussex Yeomanry and then O.T.C at Dulwich, 214 Royal Field Artillery.
His next of kin was his father who lived at 4 Gwydyfr Mansion, Hove, Sussex. His next of kin was Archibald Vickers of 93 Drayton Gardens, London S.W.10 On the 31st May 1914 he died from his wounds which he received whilst in action at the Dardanelles.
Some notes for his British Army. He joined up on the 31st August 1914 aged 24 years and 10 months at Woolwich as Gunner 94856, Royal Field Artillery. He live at Hove, Sussex and his occupation, land agent. He had previously served with the Sussex Yeomanry. He was discharged from the army after serving 68 day on the 6th December 1914 under O/ic Letter No19 (Authy) 1483 (A.G. 2 B) dated 29th November 1914
