Francis Octavius MONTGOMERY

MONTGOMERY, Francis Octavius. Eight son of the Reverend Hugh Montgomery of Grey Abbey. Born 3rd November 1803, died 19th April 1885. He is buried in the English Cemetery, Nice, France.
Served in the 78th Highlanders and 45th Regiment. He retired from the latter when a Major and on the 2nd November 1854 was appointed Lieutenant-Colonel of the Royal North South Rifles the command of which he held for many years.
This tablet is erected in his memory by Major General William Edward MONTGOMERY, his great nephew
This tablet is in the ruins of Grey Abbey, County Down, Northern Ireland.
