- Francis Bacon Russell HEMPHILL. Major, 1st Royal Berkshire Regiment. Born in Dublin 13th May 1854 and died at Malta 7th June 1891 whilst playing polo. Second son of Mr Sergeant Hemphill, Q.C. and Augusta Mary Hemphill, nee Stanmore. This memorial is erected to a gallant officer and beloved son by his afflicted father. At rest in Ta Braxia Cemetery, Malta.

Major in the 1st Royal Berkshire Regiment a bachelor who died 7th June 1891 at Malta was granted at the Principal Registry to Charles Hare Hemphill of 65 Merrion Square, Q.C. (Queen's Council) Her Majesty's First Sergeant-at-Law in Ireland, his father and next of kin.
