This plucky little aircraft has proved that not all fighters have to increase in size, complexity and cost as the international sales show. While of course not as sophisticated as the F-15 or the EF2000 the F-5 series is easy to fly and maintain and has a price that makes it more suitable for Third World countries. Steadily upgraded since the 1970's the F-5E reprents what will probably the zenith of the types development.
