- F123 Ernest Elias TOMKINS. Able Seaman P/J74060 Royal Navy on HMS St.Angelo shore base, Malta, Born 29 December 1901 at Sutton, Surrey to William Henry and Martha Tomkins, nee Moody 1911 residing with his parents at 1 Mulgrave Road, Sutton, Surrey. He enlisted 23 July 1917 on HMS Impregnable as Boy 2nd Class, civilian occupation, van driver. During his naval career he served on many ships. Husband of Eva Gladys Tomkins, nee Pragnell of Sutton, Surrey. Married 25 December 1922 at St Nicholas Church, Sutton, occupation, able seaman. Died in French Creek, Grand Harbour, Malta 22nd June 1944 aged 42 years of asphyxiation whilst engaged in diving operations accident, drowned.
