Extended Description
D652 Cyril Norton ALLEN, Leading Aircraftsman, 562415 Royal Air Force. Native of Glamorgan. Died 15 February 1935. Crew member of Royal Air Force Flying Boat K.3595 which crashed on a hillside near Messina Sicily, killing all on board 15th February 1935. The plane was flying from Naples to the RAF Base at Calafrana enroute to Singapore. His wedding was planned for June 1935. Aged 28 he had already served 13 years in the RAF over five of them in Indian and Iraq. In a letter delivered to his home, on Saturday morning, he wrote "we are leaving Naples this weekend and hope to get there without further trouble".
