D. VIII. 3. HARVEY John William. Private, 3/7928, 5th Dorsetshire Regiment. Born 1876 at Parkstone, baptised 2 July 1876 at Kinson St Clement Dorset to Enos and Dorcas Harvey. 1881 residing with his parents and siblings at Newtown, Kinson. 1891 residing with his parents and siblings at Ringwood Road, Kinson, Dorset. Died of dysentery, in St Georges Hospital, Valletta, Malta 21st November 1915, aged 41 years. His widow was granted a war gratuity on the 10 March 1916 and revised 12 August 1919, she was then called Mary E Butler, wife of Frank H Butler.

He joined up at Parkstone 3rd September 1914 aged 37 and 4 months, occupation a labourer and lived at Poole Dorset. He was married 15th March 1915 at St James church, Pool, Dorset to Miss Mary Emma Cherrett. He was aged 37 years, a private with the 3rd Dorset Regt stationed at Upton Camp, she was aged 32 and living at 16 Wise Street, Poole. They had one child; Winifred Charlotte Elizabeth Harvey born at Poole on the 17th May 1915. After he had completed his training, he was sent to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on the 28th August 1915 to Gallipoli. At some stage he contracted dysentery and he invalided to St Georges Hospital, Malta on Hospital Ship, Nevasa. He was reported as dangerously ill from dysentery on the 14th November 1915 and he died 21st November 1915. In 1917 his widow had remarried and was called Mary Emma Butler, wife of Frank H Butler and was living at Red Cottage, Ringwood Newtown, Parkstone, Dorset.
D.VIII.3. Edwin HAYWARD. Private, 23142, 4th Worcestershire Regiment. Born in 1886 and lived at Arlingham, Gloucestershire to Daniel and Esther Rowles nee Merrett. 1891 he was residing with his parents and siblings at Church Road Arlingham. 1901 residing with is parents and siblings at the Cross (Crofs), Arlingham. 1911 farm servant to farmer Arkell and his family at Boxbush Farm, Ashleworth, nr Gloucester. Died 21 November 1915 aged 30 years from injuries received in action at the Dardanelles. His mother was granted a war gratuity 2 March 1916, revised 21 August 1919. He is commemorated on a family memorial at St Mary’s Churchyard, Arlingham, Gloucestershire.
His brother Private 4913 Sidney HAYWARD. 1st South Wales Borderers. Son of Daniel and Esther R Hayward, of Arlingham, Gloucestershire. Enlisted 2 April 1895, civilian occupation, Labourer. Died 31 October 1902, 30. Interred at Peshawar India. The following were granted a gratuity on the 15 May 1903. Mother, brothers, John, Frederick, Edwin, Walter, Samuel and Giles, sisters Beatrice, Ethel Annie and Lillian Blanch.
D.VIII.3. William Edward LEWIS. Private 3293, 1/5th Welsh Regiment. Born 1894 at Ynyshol, Glamorgan, South Wales to David and Catherine Mary Lewis, nee Jacob of 9 Glynmynach Street, Ynysybwl, Pontypridd. South Wales. 1901 residing with his parents and siblings at 2 Pymgrang Terrace, Llanwonno, Glamorgan. Died of dysentry in a hospital in Malta 21 November 1915 aged 22 years. His father was granted a war gratuity 20 April 1916 and his mother on the 27 August 1919.
