ULAN AIFV - Austrian Army

The Ulan is an infantry fighting combat vehicle is in service with the Austrian Army, this is now the standard vehicle use by the armoured infantry units. To develop a new Infantry Combat Vehicle (ICV) to meet the requirements of the 1990s a joint venture company called ASCOD (Austrian Spanish Co-Operative Development) was formed. The ASCOD Company consists of the Austrian Company, Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeug AG & Co AG and the Spanish company, Santa Barbara Sistemas. In mid-1999 the Austrian Army awarded a contract to Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeug AG & Co AG for the supply of 112 ASCOD vehicles under the local name of Ulan.
