Thousands of Red Army POW's were forcibly enlisted in the German forces. Thousands more willingly enlisted as an alternative to forced labour and/or death in the camps where Russian POW's were routinely worked/starved to death. Stalin's regime executed untold numbers after the war.
Pretty much even if you were captured as a POW and survived, you stood an extremely good chance of being summarily executed on return to the USSR. The thinking was that if you were captured you were a collaborator for all intents and purposes.
