Extended Description: Elizabeth, wife of Colonel William Harold CHIPPINDALL late Royal Engineers.

Detail re her husband -
He was born 20th March 1850 joined up from Cadet Company as Lieutenant aged 21. Served in the Afghan Campaign 1878-80. March from Quetta to the relief of Kandahar. He was the husband of Elizabeth, daughter of Captain Thomas Arthur John Harrison. He died 30th September 1942 and lived at Fairbank Cottage, Kirkby Lonsdale. He was an author and wrote many books about town and transcribed many parish records which were published .
