Charles William PARKS. Able Seaman (Ch)SS.6172, Royal Navy serving on HMS BLAKE (died on Marmion). Born 15 May 1897 at Tonbridge, Kent to Maxey Moses and Sarah Parks, nee Barton. 1901 residing with his parents and siblings at Mount Pleasant, Hadlow, Kent. 1911 with his parents and siblings at Litts Wood, Hadlow, Kent. Enlisted 12 July 1915 on HMS Pembroke I, occupation prior to enlistment, Labourer. His Naval record lists his last ship as Blake on (Marmion). (It appears that he was attached to HMS Marmion). On 1917 his mother was residing at Bells Farm, Hadlow, Tonbridge, Kent.

21 October 1917 HMS Marmion was accidentally struck by Tirade in bad weather and sank while involved in escort duty off the Shetland Islands. There were no survivors.

Commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial, Kent.
