Died 8 April 1917 aged 30

Husband of A Lane, 14 Princess Street, Shrewsbury formerly 85 High Street, Wem, Shropshire.

At rest at Shrewsbury Cemetery, Shropshire.

Some notes from what remains of his army records -
He enlisted 6 April 1915 at Shrewsbury and posted to the Army Service Corps Depot the same day. His occupation on enlistment was a Groom. 23 April 1915 he embarked Newhaven and disembarked the next day at Boulogne. He was attached to 27th Remount Squadron at 4, Base Depot, Boulogne. At some stage he was posted to 27th Horse Remount Squadron as Groom, Strapper. He was medically transferred from France 24 March 1917 and was admitted the same day into the War Hospital at Croydon with Acute Nephritis. He died with his wife at his bedside at 9.30 pm 8 April 1917. His burial was a private not a military matter.
