Died 01/11/1914 at the Battle of Coronel aged 26, when HMS Good Hope was sunk off Chilean Coast.
Born 13 March 1888 at Hanley, Staffordshire.
Son of Thomas (born Shelton 1865 and died 1896 Stoke on Trent) and Eliza Amelia Merrick (nee Phillips), husband of Ada Merrick (nee Harrison born 1890 at Hanley).
18 September 1906 enlisted on H.M.S. Nelson, occupation prior to enlistment, Collier. Transferred to Royal Fleet Reserve at Portsmouth No. B4589.
Commemorated at Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire.
