KENDRICK Charles. Lance Corporal, 20687, 6th York and Lancaster Regiment, formerly 21395 Hussars. Died of wounds 2nd January 1916 in Floriana Hospital, Malta from injuries received in action at the Balkans. Only son of the late Sarah and Puneas John Kendrick of 9 Shaftesbury Street, West Bromwich.
Some notes from what remains of his army records.
He enlisted on the 4th September 1914 aged 20 years and 350 days. Posted on the 10th September 1914 to the Hussars Depot as private 21395. He was born at Ladywood, Birmingham. 7th June 1915 he was transferred to the 3rd York and Lancs Regiment as private 200687. He was posted to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, 6th York and Lancs. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on the 7th November 1916 and wounded in the field on the 25th November 1915. He sustained a compound fracture to his left femur. At some stage he was invalided to Floirana Hospital, Malta where he died of his wounds on the 2nd January 1916. His parents in 1919 were living at 32 Hope Street, West Bromwich.

PLUMMER Stephen (Steven) Luther. Private, 16723, 8th Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, formerly 20904 Dragoons. Died 2nd January 1916, aged 21 years. The son of Stephen and Ellen Plummer, of 8 Bardolph Road, Bungay, Suffolk.

He joined up at Scarborough He was as Stephen Plummer. Born on the 17th June 1894, aged on enlistment 20 years and 80 days, occupation, printers apprentice. He was posted to 13th Reserve Cavalry Regiment and was transferred to the Duke of Wellington's Regiment on the 15th June 1915 His mother, Ellen was his next of kin and she lived at Henham Villa, Bardolph Road, Bungay, Suffolk. On the 20th September 1915 he was posted to the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force to join his unit, 8th Battalion. He was awarded on the 8th November 1915 at the Dardanelles 3 days number 2 field punishment for being late on parade, charged by C.S.M. Taylor and put on O.C.Orders. 18th November 1915. he was admitted to 54 Casualty Clearing Station suffering from dysentery. (no record of where he was originally treated) Later that day he was invalided to Malta on Hospital Ship, Nevasa. 26th November he was admitted to St George's Hospital direct from the hospital ship and was dangerously ill. 23rd November 1915 he was reported dangerously ill and he died of dysentery at the hospital the 2nd January 1916.

PETTITT Herbert. Private 14510, 2nd Hampshire Regiment. Died of wounds 3rd January 1916, aged 19 years in Malta from injuries received at Gallipoli. Son of Percy and Harriett Pettitt, of Waterloo Place, Tonbridge, Kent.
