Charles Albert WARREN Private 9045, Gloucestershire Regiment died 26th December 1915 aged 25. In 1911 he was stationed in Malta with the 2nd Gloucestershire Regiment. He is at rest in Macclesfield Cemetery Cheshire.
Some notes from what remains of his army record. He enlisted on the 19th October 1908 aged 18 years and 6 months at Hounslow and he was posted to the 2nd Gloucestershire Regiment at Aldershot on the 21st October 1908. He was living at Wapping, Surrey and was employed as a shop assistant. His father, Henry George of 15, Bartle Avenue, East Ham, and his brother, George, serving with the Essex Regiment were his next of kin. On the 8th November 1914 he was posted to France when he suffered from mild frost bite on the 28th January 1915 He was treated at 82nd Field Ambulance, Boeschoepe, Nord France and then the same date at No 2 General Hospital at Balleul. On the 29th he was transferred to British (Red Cross) Hospital, Wimereux and from there to England on Hospital Ship St Andrew on the 30th. At some stage he was discharged fit for war service because on the 2nd June 1915 he embarked Southampton for France. He was again admitted to hospital, this time suffering from Malaria on the 9th June 1915 into 6th general Hospital, Rouen. He was discharged fit for duty on the 17th June and sent to the Front on the 1st July 1915. On the 23rd July 1917 he was admitted into 81st Field Ambulance suffering from Phthisis (Tuberculosis). On the 24th he was at No 7, Casualty Clearing Station, at Merville, then to No 11 Hospital Train on the 25th for 10th General Hospital, Rouen where he was admitted on the 26th. He was invalided to England on Hospital Ship, St Andrew suffering from Tubercle of the Lung. After treatment he was on a Medical Board where he found to be unfit for further war service. He was discharged to pension on the 11th October 1915 under Para 392(XVI)King's Regulation. His complaint originated on the 26th July 1915 at Armentieres, France. He was treated in a Military Hospital at Rouen. He had no previous history of any Pulmonary or Tuberculosis symptoms. It was caused by war service.

He was stationed at Aldershot 21 October 1908 to 22nd September 1909, Portsmouth from the 23rd to the 3rd November 1910. To Malta from Portsmouth on H.M.T. Rewa on the 4th, disembarking at Malta on the 12th November 1910. In Malta from the 12th November 1910 to 11th September 1913, To China on H T Loudan from the 12th disembarking at Chine on the 19th October 1913. In China from the 19th October 1913 to the 14th September 1914. To England, on H.T. Arcadia on the 15th September 1914 to 7th November 1914 and in Winchester, England 8th November 1914. France, 19th December 1914 to the 30th January 1915. England from the 31st January to the 1st June 1915 back to France on the 2nd June 1915 to the 31st July 1915. returning to England on the 1st August 1915 to his discharged from the army on the 11th October 1915.
