This is a rare variant of the Ram Kangaroo Armoured Personnel Carrier, the Badger. It’s driving through Putten in the Netherlands in April 1945.
Instead of carrying infantry, the Badger carried a flamethrower. This was the same weapon as mounted on the Wasp, a flamethrowing version of the Universal Carrier.
This vehicle belonged to the 5th Canadian Armoured Brigade. Part of 5th Canadian Armoured Division, this unit fought in Italy during 1944. In January 1945, along with all Canadian combat units in that country, it was moved to North West Europe as part of Operation Goldflake.
