Tree dedication plaque at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire. Private 24469635 John BIRCH. He was aged 28 and lived with his family at Meadow Park, Ballywalter. He is at rest in Whitechurch Cemetery, Ballywalter, County Down. He was killed by a 1000lb bomb while on mobile patrol with three other soldiers on the 9th April 1990 on the Ballyduggan Road, Downpatrick, County Down. They all belonged to the 3rd County Down Battalion.
