Mr Frederick HALL, undertaker, was granted a war gratuity 10 January 1917 revises 27 February 1919.
Bernard Hunt joined up on three occasions all resulting in discharge.
18 August 1914 aged 27 years and 32 days he joined up and was posted the the New Battalion, 7 North Staffordshire Regiment as Private 10556. He lived at 1 Bagnall Square off Marsh Street, Hanley, occupation, collier. Next of kin was his father, John. While stationed at Tidworth, Wiltshire he was charged with being drunk and causing disturbance in the barrack room about 9.20pm on 12 September 1914. He was in front of Commanding Officer the next day and was given 24hrs detention. On the 23 September 1914 he was discharged from Tidworth - Not likely to become and efficient soldier. Served 37 days.
19th November 1914 he re-joined aged 26, occupation labourer and residing at 1 Bagnall Square. Next of kin his mother Joan of the same address. He was posted to the Royal Garrison Artillery at Newhaven as gunner 54825. He was discharged on the 2 December 1914 - Not likely to become and efficient soldier. Served 27 days.
The last time was on 14 April 1915 aged 26. He was posted to Royal Field Artillery as Gunner 776. Residing at 1 Bagnall Square, his father John was his next of kin. 19 September 1916 while serving with 296th Brigade Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery at Dublin he was discharged from the army as being no longer physically fit for war service due the insanity. He was sent to St Edwards Mental Asylum, Cheddleton, near Leek, Staffordshire.
His military character was given as Bad . "This man is mentally deficient and is subject to prolong periods of insanity."
At rest at Hanley Stoke-on-Trent Cemetery, Staffordshire.
