Berkley Alfred EVANS, WOII (CSM), 2815185, 1st Battalion, Dorsetshire Regiment, died 1st December 1942, aged 42 years. Born 1900, baptised 4 November 1900 at Sherborne parish church. Son of John and Emma Jane Evans, nee Toop. 1901 with his parents and siblings at 101 Coombe, Sherborne. 1911 with his parents and siblings at Higher Acreman Street, Sherborne, Dorset. Husband of Margaret Ann Evans, of Hendford, Yeovil, Somerset. On the 2nd March 1915 he joined up aged 19 and 2 months into the 4th Dorsetshire Regiment number 3434. He lived with his parents at 12 Laudborne Road, Sherborn, Dorsetshire. His occupation prior to enlistment was a grocers assistant. On the 12th November 1915 he was absent from the 7-30 roll call (muster parade) He was confined to barracks for 5 days. He was discharged from the army 26th November 1915 for being under the age of 17 years at the date of application. Discharged under Para 392 (VI) Kings Regulations. At some later date he re-joined His medal card show the his was Private 17659 Coldstream Guards, Private 129364 45th Royal Fusiliers, Private 2815185 Seaforth Highlanders and Dorsetshire Regiment. At rest in Plot 3. Row 3 Grave 4. Imtarfa Military Cemetery, Malta.
