Italian M91 rifle bayonet and M91TS bayonet

At the top is a standard M91 bayonet which could be used on a wide variety of Italian weapons. Bottom bayonet is dedicated to the M91TS or "truppe speciale". Notice it has a different mounting bracket. Someone in design (who had probably never been in a bayonet fight) thought it was too easy for an enemy to grab your rifle, push the release button (somehow) and remove the bayonet to use it against you.

The "transverse mounting system" theoretically eliminated that problem. In any case, it was a weak design and was replaced. This style bayonet has appeal to collectors.
