The first Jeep ever made: the Bantam prototype scout car. Its designer, Karl Probst, is seen in shirtsleeves leaning against the rear-mounted spare tire. Note the front fenders are cycle-type, probably taken from a Bantam passenger car. This vehicle no longer exists, though a replica of it has been built.
